Leasing or loan: which should you choose?

Both options let you drive without paying in full, but they work in very different ways. We go through the figures with you before you sign.

At a glance

  • 01

    Ownership

Leasing: the vehicle remains the leasing company's. Loan: it is yours from the moment you buy it.

  • 02

    Mileage

Leasing: limited by contract, with a surcharge beyond it. Loan: no limit.

  • 03

    End of contract

Leasing: return with a condition check and possible charges. Loan: you keep or sell it freely.

  • 04

    Early exit

Leasing: early termination is often costly. Loan: early repayment is possible.

With a lease, you rent the vehicle for a set period and mileage. It belongs to the leasing company, and fully comprehensive insurance is mandatory. With a loan, you borrow money to buy the vehicle, which then belongs to you.

Leasing can suit you if you often change to a new car and drive relatively little. A loan is often more advantageous for a used car, a vehicle you keep for a long time or high mileage. Both leasing and loans are subject to the Consumer Credit Act.

Our approach

Questions to ask yourself

  • How long do you plan to keep the vehicle?
  • How many kilometres do you drive each year?
  • Is the vehicle new or used?
  • What is the total cost, including comprehensive insurance?
  • What happens if your situation changes during the contract?

How much would your project cost?

Adjust the amount and the term to get a first estimate. We then compare offers from our partner banks for you.

Granting credit is prohibited if it leads to the consumer's over-indebtedness (art. 3 UCA).

Example: for a loan of CHF 10'000 over 12 months, at an effective annual rate of 9.95%, the total interest cost is CHF 523.31.

All loans are subject to review and approval of the application.
